Adobe Document Reader Major Security Flaw

Adobe has released an emergency update for Acrobat and Reader after finding a flaw that attackers have already used in real-world attacks. People who open PDFs on affected versions may be exposed until the update is installed. This is especially significant during tax season, when more people are opening important documents and attachments.

Who Is at Risk

Anyone who uses Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader to open PDF files is most at risk.

What to Watch For

Watch for Adobe asking you to update Acrobat or Reader, especially if you regularly open PDFs from email, websites, or other people.

What to Do

Update Adobe Acrobat or Reader right away to the latest version and restart the app or device if prompted.
