Google Settles Lawsuit Over Children’s Data Collection


Google has agreed to pay $8.25 million to settle a lawsuit alleging it illegally collected data from children under 13 through apps downloaded from its Play Store including Fun Kid Racing, GummyBear, and Friends Speed Racing. The lawsuit claimed that Google’s AdMob service gathered personal information from children’s devices without parental consent, violating the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
