If You Have Not Updated Your iPhone You Are At Immediate Risk

Hackers linked to foreign governments are using a new set of security flaws (called DarkSword) to infect iPhones that have not been updated. Unpatched iPhones can be secretly monitored or controlled without the owner knowing.

Who Is at Risk

Anyone using an iPhone that has not installed the latest Apple updates is at risk, especially journalists, activists, frequent travelers, and people targeted by powerful actors.

What to Watch For

About one out of every five iPhones is missing the latest update. Evidence of compromise includes unexpected messages or links, sudden battery drain or overheating, new apps you didn’t install, repeated crashes, or unusual permission prompts.

What to Do

Immediately update your iPhone to the latest iOS and restart it.
