What happened:
Hackers attacked the old CodeRED emergency alert system. Some personal information may have been stolen. The company shut the old system down and is moving users to a new one.

Why it matters:
Some cities may not be able to send emergency alerts on time.

  • Messages from your local government about system changes
  • Strange emails or texts (possible scams)
